We got our first Irish Setter in 1994. Prior to these red dogs, we had Doberman Pinschers, and kept our horses in training barns near our home in Pasadena, California. Once we moved to Hemet, we brought the horses home to five acres of irrigated pastures. We thought it was time to get more dogs and so it began, this love affair with Irish Setters.
There are currently six adults and three puppies who have staked their claims on WindRose Farm. Woody will be 12 in 2006, then came Lucy who was born in 1995, Hooligan was born in 1996. Zoë turned seven in December of 2005, and she is still nursing her second and final litter.
Hooligan is retired from active showing, with his banner carried on by his kids like Dodger, Zoe, Killian, Delta and Abbott, and now by his grandson Chance.

WindRose Farm is loyal to the show fanciers, and we pride ourselves in connecting the right puppy with the right owner. That means we take into consideration the experience of the buyer, the competition in his area of the country, his personal preferences in an Irish Setter, and whether he intends to handle the dog or hire a professional. All these factors come into play, and we send the very best puppy for those reasons! We do not breed solely for our own enjoyment, but clearly plan each breeding to positively impact this beloved breed. You will see WindRose youngsters and adults all over the country, doing well in any competition, impressing judges and fanciers alike. The health and structural soundness of our dogs is without equal, and we will continue to strive for such excellence.
Hooligan will continue to be offered at stud in 2006, and we expect him to produce more outstanding youngsters with quality bitches. Feel free to ask about Hooligan's pedigree, show record, health clearances, or anything else you're curious about. We are extremely proud of this exceptional dog; he has shown himself worthy of being called our "foundation sire"!
